Nice Shot: Cap'n Birdseye

Found on an abandoned pirate ship sometime in 1930s, this rare "Piece of Art" was the last remaining artefact from the vessel. No one knows where the ship was from or where it was going, making this rare "Piece of Art" more special.

Nice Shot: Cold

The little cold snap in London we went through recently was pretty harsh at times (much public transport drama) but it is nothing compared to a fantastic article over on National Geographic about Douglas Mawson's 1910 expedition to Antartica, dubbed "The Most Terrible Polar Exploration Ever"

The article is gripping and horrifically gasp-inducing. Like this bit:
Three days after [a fellow crewmate's] death, Mawson discovered to his horror that the soles of his feet had completely detached from the skin beneath them, which spurted pus and blood. He taped the dead soles to his feet, and put on six pairs of wool socks. Every step thereafter was an agony.
Yikes! Bare in mind that this point, Mawson was only about halfway through his entire ordeal. We throughly urge you read the full article. The above pic is of another expedition member- a pic of Douglas Mawson is below, commemorated on a stamp (love that etching)

Nice Shot: Clint

Hard at work pic researching, found this gem. Steely-eyed focus on the job.
